Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is used to format the HTML webpage layout. using CSS, you can change color, font family, size of the font, etc. with CSS, you can easily make a plain HTML document into a stylish web page.

To do styling for HTML element you need to use the <style> attribute.

Type of Styles

There are three methods to implement styles to an HTML document using CSS.

  • 1. Inline Styles: Using <style> attribute in the HTML start tag, you can apply style to the HTML elements.
  • 2. Internal Style: Using <style> element in the <head> section, you can apply style to the HTML document.
  • 3. External Style: Using <link> element by external CSS file, you can apply style to the HTML document.

HTML Inline Style

if you want to apply a style to the particular element, then HTML inline CSS will do it for you. you can apply styles to the individual element with <style> attribute.

HTML Internal Style

if you want to apply style to the single HTML page, then HTML Internal CSS will do it for you. you can apply styles to the single HTML document with <style> </style> element within the <head> section.

HTML External Style

if you want to apply a style to the multiple HTML documents at a time using one style sheet, then HTML external CSS will do it for you. you can apply same styles to the multiple HTML documents with <link> element within the <head> section.

To link external styles to HTML documents you need to save .css file first. in this example, we have used style.css as an external CSS file.
